  • It's all good. . .

    It's been awhile, huh?

Life in the desert keeps moving on. I am learning to love it here more. The air is really clean- and it's only been around 98 degrees this week. That's good.

I caught a grasshopper (yes, the spawn of the underworld) for my kids to study. That was good, too (a little gross)

My music professor gave me an A on my last quiz (and said I was lucky- but we know better). That is good.

I washed a year's worth of dust off of my windows and screens- it looks good.

Our bank was sold a couple of days ago, the economy is in disarray- but God is GOOD!

    And So It Begins

It was great to see so many of you while I was up in Sac. My trip wasn't nearly long enough- but I am glad to be back home to my family.

It's such an adjustment during the first week of school. My kids are still at the table. I have no idea how they can stand sitting there for hours- but somehow they manage it.

A friend of mine loaded my anniversary present onto my iPod. The entire second season of Babylon 5

Ah! When will I grow up?

  • It's Over

Summer is finally winding down here, and reality seems to be setting in. No more staying in our pjs till 10:00 am

My last summer fling will commence tomorrow (YEAH!!) as I embark on my 9 hour journey to Sacto via van, bus, & train. My flower girl is getting married! She's all grown up, *sniff*sniff*.

I bought my first college textbooks today. Scary, but exciting. Music theory, here I come!

Our garden is giving up, but not before it gives back- our crop of canteloupe, honeydew, watermelon, roma tomatoes, and chili peppers hasn't been too shabby, for the desert. God can make stuff grow anywhere.

  • God is Good

Rejoice with us! Today is our 13th wedding anniversary!

Marriage hasn't always been easy- but it has been good. Jay says God put us together for our sanctification  I'm grateful for a godly husband who fears the Lord. I know there have been a few blogs lately about finding a spouse, and I am thankful that all of them I have read have been abundantly clear that un- equal unions are not an option. Give praise for that girls, because that's God's grace in your life teaching you what is His will. Sadly, in my experience, I have known a few Christian girls who have compromised this very basic principle for a guy who is "almost there" or a "good person". I have seen the outcome of some of these marriages, and "almost" isn't a happy marriage, and God wants our marriages to be godly- not our definition of good. So, ladies, do what you have to do to get ready- (great comments S), but keep your standards God's. He won't bring you a perfect guy (because all the perfect ones are in heaven ), but it's His desire for you to marry a godly man. In the meantime, I will pray for those of you that I know. God's timing and omnipotence is impeccable (that's an understatement!).

  • Movie Night Flop?

Thanks for all your suggestions about my movie night.

It was such a weird night. One girl showed up, came straight into the kitchen and started crying because her husband and kids were not going to stay (my invite said "Ladies Movie Night"). Then someone else shows up and declares that she isn't going to have a good time b/c she has too many issues going on at home that are troubling her (isn't that where friends, chocolate, & a good flick help out?) So, we eat- lots of chex mix- and the other potluck contributions -various junk-food items (soup???). After about an hour and a half of munching & soup slurping I suggest that we take the movie viewing to a vote (Sweet Land or Miss Potter). Then someone says to me, "Why do we have to watch a movie? Let's just visit!" (she forgot to add "until 2:00 am"). So all my movie angst for nothing.  *note to self* next time, on the invitation just invite the whole family, only people who have no problems, ask for soup (on a 108 degree day), and don't mention anything about a movie, and remind people to bring their pillows and sleeping bags. . .

For all my whining I have to admit it was an enjoyable evening of fellowship, just not how I planned. Yet another reminder that I am not in control.

I love my crazy friends- they are for my sanctification.
